Love Yourself Always and Forever.

Edited by Nubia of NubiasNonsense
Loving yourself might very well be the key of living a happy life. Love your strengths, your weaknesses, everything! Everyone who made a submission to Links à la mode should be very proud and content with themselves. You are all fashion bloggers with a voice and have something to share with others. Did you know that your post could make someone's day? Your DIY shorts might have been the highlight of a young girls day. Your inspirational post might have motivated someone who had the blues. These are all reasons to keep writing great content and when in doubt remember... YOU INFLUENCE PEOPLE.

Taking the plunge

...into vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free food. And with ice cream, no less! Leave it up to Foodgawker to link me over to a Vegan Peppermint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream that I had to try just for the sake of tasting coconut/date/spinach ice cream, and end up loving.

Now, let me set the stage: it has been my summertime goal for years now to master the art of cooking (well, as much as one can do in a couple of months) before I head back to school. Fruitless (intended) as my previous pursuits might have been, a delight in watching Chopped on FoodNetwork and a growing attachment to Foodgawker have left me no option: I will cook, and cook indeed. So, when a 6-ingredient recipe that allows me to use a brand-new ice cream maker pops into my life, I do what any mint-chip-loving girl would have done: put the recipe to the test!

Leanne's ice cream recipe gave me the perfect kickstart into my foodie dreams. A simple yet complex-sounding description, involving some of the best flavors out there, drew me in.

While there were a couple of adjustments I would make to cater the recipe more to my taste (I'm not actually anything-intolerant, so perhaps I'll go with some chocolate sauce next time), you can't beat ice cream so healthy I don't feel bad eating it. In fact, I'm getting my leafy greens - spinach works the same ground up and whole leaf, doesn't it?

It was easy, it was delicious, it was ice cream. Can't wait to see what I'll be cooking up next.

Fashion Gone Wrong: Oh, no.

Hello everyone; my name is Elizabeth, and I am a bad-fashion lover.
Not to wear, oh no - but to post and marvel at the manufacturers/buyers of such garments. As you may have gathered from my previous posts, once I've spotted a cringe-inducing clothing item, it's only a matter of time before it appears on these pages. And, since I don't care to stop... I hope it brings you some enjoyment as well.
Chiffon pants. With a floral print, wide legs and "partially lined" to boot. Sorry, dear model, you don't even get shoe or bracelet kudos. Any balancing out your accessories could have done are obliterated by the sheer curtains on your legs. But hey, if you beg to differ (or appreciate their summertime cooling properties), head to Forever21.
Wonder Woman meets Vegas show? Oy. I'll leave it at that.
To be fair, they come in black and gray also at GoJane.com.

The whole cut-out idea that seems to be running rampant throughout footwear lately is something I must admit I just don't understand. These would work in summertime, yes, but then when you get to open-toed boots and shoes that look like they've gone through the shredder, I just don't see the point. These just strike me as a little clown-ish...although perhaps it's mainly the gold that's so offsetting. And, well, they're not my style - and that's just my opinion! If you disagree, check them out at Urban.
Didn't the fashion world cycle through the whole poncho thing six years ago? I mean, are we really that short on inspiration and new ideas at the moment? Don't get me wrong, those ponchos were comfy - and I have seen poncho-style wraps and shawls styled in great ways lately. But this is just too reminiscent of a 2004 catalog for me to be in on this go-around. Sorry, Delias, I won't be buying; but you can here.

Victorious

You know how whenever there's a shoe sale, the one pair that's the perfect style and price is also the one that has no other sizes available besides the [not your size by a long shot]?
You know how when that happens, you just wonder WHY it can't be in your size instead of a leprechaun's?
Well, it happened. To me. The good way! It was the perfect storm: perfect style, great price, my size exactly. And for a black leather boot? Needless to say, it was a very exciting moment for me.
Apologies for the poor photo quality... my camera is on the fritz at the moment =(
Yeah, it's a basic, and not that cobalt blue pair of heels or something else rather frivolous, but hey — a deal's a deal in my book! Victory.

Culture shock

Source: tumblr.com via Ruby on Pinterest

MY PHONE CONVENIENTLY DIED, SO THESE ARE NOT OUR ACTUAL TACOS, BUT VIA PINTEREST.

What a day.
It began with an innocent text, stating that today my friend and I would do something out of the ordinary. We would do something extraordinary!
So sent us on our quest for incredible tacos, spanning three freeways, seven U-turns and countless exclamations of frustration, bewilderment and excitement. But, let me tell you - the tacos made the trip worthwhile.
We then proceeded to return home, watch reruns of Psych while working on a puzzle for the next couple of hours. We're an exciting bunch, I know. Maybe next time we'll watch-puzzle-underwater basket weave. That'll be a story to tell.

Here we go again!

My last post was well-intentioned, but alas, had no real motivation. This time will be different.
For so long I've blogged as a portion of my personality, exaggerated because I thought that's what the internet fashion community wanted. Now, no more - it's all me or nothing!
So, I hope you enjoy the revamped and eclectic musings and posts to follow!

A Lazarus moment of sorts

Wow. It's nearly been a year and a half since I have livened up this space with any new post.
Apologies, any readers out there, and let me say this: it's time for a resurrection of this blog. However, you may notice a major face-lift shooting through the site in the next few weeks, and I am looking at taking a bit of a different direction. While style is something I have my opinions about, it's not my place to order you about. Guidelines and opinions? Well, a bit of a different story, but forgive me for my rather instructive methods in the past. Hopefully this blog's new form will now continually Spark Eclecticity in you.
